Colour Trends 2025

Well we are finally in March which means my favourite season is here…..SPRING! I love the colours, the weather (hopefully!) and the scents that come with the season, like freshly cut grass. I also really like Easter and I enjoy decorating my house to celebrate.

My March has started very well, I attended the Kent Women in Business Awards on Friday where I was shortlisted down from 50+ applications as a Finalist for the Home Based Business category. This felt like a huge achievement for me as I only launched Sophie Laws Interiors 6 months ago so to have been nominated and then shortlisted was a very proud moment for me.

Things are also progressing very well with my home office and it was painted this weekend so I am excited to share with you very soon! Speaking of paint, my topic to discuss with you this month is Colour Trends for 2025 and how they are decided upon.

Colour trends are determined by a combination of cultural influences, fashion, psychological factors, and economic and social conditions. Each year several companies release their ‘Colour of the Year’ which can heavily influence the Interior Design industry.

So what are the colour trends of this year? Do you follow them when designing your own home or do you to go your own way without following trends? If you hired an Interior Designer would you want them to follow the current trends?

Pantone’s ‘Color of the Year’ is Mocha Mousse PANTONE 17-1230. The hue connotes coffee, chocolate and indulgent, delicious creamy desserts giving feelings of richness, luxury, comfort and warmth.

The beauty of this hue is that it works well with other colours. If you want to create a warm, neutral space it acts as the perfect foundation. If, however, you want to bring more colour to a room, pinks, greens, blues and lilacs also pair so well with this rich brown.

Benjamin Moore & Co. are a paint and coatings company who publish a Colour Trends Palette each year. For 2025 they have selected 10 colours which can be used on their own or paired with other complimentary colours to create a beautiful room transformation. The palette is understated and undramatic and will therefore be colours that will have longevity in your space if you don’t wish to change it up each year.

My personal favourite of the palette is Cinnamon Slate (2113-40) which is a mix of plum and brown. I just love its richness and can imagine it paired with gold accessories and cosy soft furnishes.

Yellow is another hue that has been discussed as a colour trend for 2025. Dulux have selected the shade True Joy as their Colour of the Year. A bright, playful colour to uplift and bring positivity. I do love yellow, it’s not suitable for every room of course as it does evoke energy but it’s perfect for playrooms, kitchens and living rooms. I have recently presented a design to a client who wants to transform her home office and she fell in love with my yellow ceiling idea! We are going to paint the ceiling and the top part of her wall in Coat’s Ziggy’s Yellow and I can’t wait to share the final look with you all!

So whether you follow trends or have your own ideas and would like help selecting colours and receiving guidance on your next room transformation do not hesitate to get in touch! You can contact me at sophielawsinteriors@outlook.com or via my website www.sophielawsinteriors.co.uk. I look forward to working with you!
